About Us

Why Thebhaktibeat Exists

Thebhaktibeat is a small independent publication about devotional and spiritually minded music. It is written for listeners who follow kirtan, bhajan and related sounds, for people who plan their weekends around a gathering, and for curious newcomers who have heard one track and want to know where it came from.

Where the writing comes from

Coverage rests on three areas that feed one another: music news, artist interviews, and festivals and events. A new release is easier to understand once you have heard the musician talk about it, and a gathering makes more sense when you know who is on the programme and why.

  • Music News follows releases, tours, collaborations and announcements, with context for readers who are new to a tradition.
  • Artist Interviews gives musicians room to describe their instruments, influences, practice and the thinking behind a recording.
  • Festivals & Events looks at lineups, schedules, travel, what to bring and what a first visit is usually like.

Our approach

We aim to be useful and respectful. Dates, lineups and release details are checked against official announcements from artists, labels and organisers before they are published. When a detail is unconfirmed, the article says so plainly instead of guessing.

Music news moves quickly. Schedules shift, venues change and lineups are rearranged, so older pages are revisited and updated when the facts change.

Who reads it

Readers include long-time practitioners, festival regulars, casual listeners and people exploring devotional music for the first time. Nothing here assumes you know the vocabulary already, and terms are explained as they come up.
